Monthly vs permanent is a bet on time
Per-TB-per-month storage is cheap to start and easy to leave; permanent storage is a bigger up-front cost that only pays off over years - and only if the network's endowment economics hold. Egress fees are the classic trap: S3-style pricing can cost far more to take your data out than to keep it. For anything you will read back often, model egress; for archival "write once", permanent storage can win.
